Immaculata University is pleased to announce that Lynn Krieger ’21 of York, Pennsylvania was awarded the prestigious Saint Catherine of Alexandria Medal for 2020-2021. The Medal was presented during a welcome back Mass for the spring semester, celebrated by Archbishop Nelson Pérez, at Immaculata University.
Kappa Gamma Pi, a national honor society for graduates of Catholic colleges, sponsors this Medal which is named after Saint Catherine of Alexandria, who represents wisdom, fortitude and Christian service. Kappa Gamma Pi offers the Medal to a student at the conclusion of his/her junior year. The selection is made by the University faculty and/or classmates on the basis of leadership and service to the institution.
“Having taught Lynn for the past four years, I have concluded that no one represents the three characteristics of the St. Catherine Medal, wisdom, fortitude and Christian service, more than Ms. Lynn Krieger,” states Sandra Nolan, Ph.D., RN, BC-AHN, assistant professor of nursing.
Krieger is a pre-licensure nursing student with a minor in music. As the president of Crown of Creation, she is also actively involved with campus ministry and serves as treasurer for IU’s Catholic Relief Services Ambassadors. She also sings for Sunday Mass. In addition, Krieger plays the viola with the Immaculata Symphony and is the student representative on the Symphony board. Her campus roles include serving as an admissions ambassador, an orientation leader for New Student Orientation and a peer tutor with the Academic Success Department.
Having secured a position as a graduate nurse at WellSpan York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania upon her graduation from Immaculata this May, Krieger will work in oncology. Once she passes the NCLEX exam, she will be a registered nurse and plans to pursue an oncology nurse certification.
“I am honored to serve the Immaculata community and receive the Medal,” states Krieger. “To me, receiving the Medal means that I have done my duty as a member of the Immaculata community: to serve my community through my studies, faith and relationships.”
