Immaculata University Honors Education Major Meghan Nowaczyk ’27 with Saint Catherine of Alexandria Medal

Immaculata University named Meghan Nowaczyk ’27, of Hatboro, Pennsylvania, an education major pursuing dual certifications in PreK-4 and special education PK-12, the recipient of the Saint Catherine of Alexandria Medal for the 2026–27 academic year. The award was presented during Immaculata’s Mass of the Holy Spirit on Sept. 3 on the University’s campus.

Sponsored by Kappa Gamma Pi, a national honor society for graduates of Catholic colleges, the Saint Catherine Medal is awarded annually to one Immaculata student. Following completion of their junior year, students who demonstrate deep commitments to faith, service, leadership and academic excellence are nominated by faculty and staff.

Kelly Doyle, Ed.D., associate professor and director of undergraduate education programs, nominated Nowaczyk, saying, “Meghan demonstrates high intellect, enthusiasm, integrity, and a faithful and loving heart in all she does, ranging from her academic endeavors to her campus involvement and leadership roles. Additionally, while in the field working with students, she brings a joy to her role and takes joy in her work with the students. She truly exemplifies the criteria used for selection of this award.”

Nowaczyk, heavily involved on Immaculata’s campus, is a member of Kappa Delta Pi (international honors society for education majors), Pi Gamma Mu (social sciences honor society) where she serves as the activities and programming chair, the National Society of Leadership and Success, Cue and Curtain Theatre group, Immacapella, Chorale and IU For the Kids. Nowaczyk is also the president of the IU Honor Society, executive director of Mac-A-Thon, a New Student Orientation Leader (2024-2026) and social media chair of the Yoga Club.

“Receiving this medal is something that is difficult to put into words because I did not do this on my own,” Nowaczyk said. “I truly believe I would not be receiving this if it were not for my education professors and education major friends. They push me to become the best version of myself, be motivated, and make a difference. All of my professors and friends have such a drive and passion for learning and doing, and I practice that every day not just as an educator, but as an active leader on campus.”

After graduation, Nowaczyk, who plans to work in the special education field, will enroll in the educational leadership master’s program at Immaculata University, with a focus on social and emotional learning.
