Remembering Mary Scharff ’77
On Monday, January 14, Immaculata alumna Mary Scharff ’77 passed away at the age of 64. Mary played on the 1974 Mighty Macs women’s national basketball championship team and was named a Kodak All-American her senior year. Mary continued coaching at the high school and collegiate levels, including 11 years as head coach at Immaculata.
A Principal Achievement: Stephen Brandt, Ed.D. student
When Stephen Brandt, now in IU’s K-12 educational leadership Ed.D. program, became principal at Roxborough High, it was on the state’s list of “persistently dangerous” schools. But Brandt and his team began to change the culture of the school.

On Sunday morning, July 22, Immaculata alumna Rene Muth Portland ’75 passed away. Rene played on all three Immaculata Mighty Macs women’s basketball championship teams and went on to a successful coaching career.
