Allied Health, B.S. – Medical Laboratory Science

This is a clinical specialty concentration of the Allied Health program.

Medical laboratory scientists perform tests on blood, tissue, and other biological specimens to assist with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. They perform specialized tests, ordered by physicians, on high-tech equipment, and interpret the results. Technicians may work in a variety of areas or may specialize in one area of study.

Most medical laboratory scientists work in healthcare settings such as hospitals, medical and diagnostic laboratories, and doctor’s offices.

Program Highlights

  • 3 years of academic coursework at Immaculata, including courses in the sciences and healthcare management and experience in the hospital, prepare students for the clinical program within Medical Laboratory Sciences.
  • Students spend approximately one year at the clinical affiliate to obtain training with various medical and scientific equipment, protocols, and procedures.
