Application Process and Requirements

Admission for the Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision is available for the fall semester. Qualified applicants must possess a master’s degree in counseling or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution meeting master’s level academic requirements, CACREP-accredited preferred, but not required. Students with a master’s degree in counseling from a non-CACREP accredited program may have to complete additional courses at the master’s level, as determined by the program director and department chair.

A complete application for admission will include the following:

3: Official Transcripts

Official transcripts from each undergraduate and graduate school you have attended must be received electronically or by mail, directly from the Registrar’s office. Please have official transcripts electronically sent to gradadmission@immaculata.edu or mailed to:

4: Three References

Three references: Three completed reference forms appraising your capacity for doctoral study. At least one reference must be from outside of Immaculata University. Electronic reference forms, including instructions, are available within the application portal upon submission of an application. If you need to provide a PDF or paper version, please download the reference form.

5: Personal Goals Statement

A two-three page, double-spaced, typed statement of your interests and goals as they relate to the five program areas, including counseling, supervision, teaching, applied research, and professional leadership.

7: Optional Official MAT or GRE Scores

Test scores are optional. 

Official score reports for the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) sent directly to the College of Graduate Studies by the testing center. Please allow 4 weeks for test scores to be reported to Immaculata University.

  • For GRE information, visit the website or contact Graduate Record Examinations, Educational Testing Services, P.O. Box 6000, Princeton, NJ 08541-6000 (1-800-473-2255). Immaculata’s GRE code number is 2320.

8: TOEFL Score

International students must have the official TOEFL score sent directly to the College of Graduate Studies. If you are an international student, you must submit additional documentation.

9: Admission Interview

All required application documentation must be submitted by the application deadline

The Ph.D. application deadline for the fall semester is January 15th. (If the date falls on a weekend, the deadline is the following Monday.)
