Nursing, B.S.N. (LPN to BSN)

A bachelor’s degree in nursing and an R.N. license offer you the potential for higher wages, better patient outcomes and better job prospects.

If you’re a licensed practical nurse who wants to advance your career and grow your earning potential, you can earn your Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) in seven semesters instead of eight and sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN®).

Immaculata has more than three decades of experience educating nurses in patient-centered, evidence-based practice. Immaculata’s faculty teach a holistic approach to nursing as both an art and a science that cares for patients as whole persons—composed of mind, body and spirit. Immaculata nurses help patients to promote, restore and maintain their health, and to die in comfort and with dignity.

Career Paths

As a registered nurse, you will have diverse employment opportunities in settings such as hospitals, physician’s offices, home health care, long-term care facilities, schools, correctional facilities, the military and many other areas.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, employment of registered nurses is expected to grow 6% from 2021 to 2031. The median annual wage for nurses is $77,600. For licensed practical nurses, the median pay is $48,000 per year.

"IU provided me with an amazing nursing education and experience. Nursing is not the easiest academic program to excel in, but with the help of so many of my amazing teachers, I can say I have grown into the nurse I had always dreamed of being because of their support and guidance. IU’s small class sizes allow the professors to get to know every one of us as a whole person."
