“Privacy and the Constitution in the Information Age”

The American Constitution never uses the word “privacy,” so how do courts get from an 18th-century understanding of “search and seizure” in the 4th Amendment to rulings on the issues raised by an age of unprecedented information access?

Join with the IU community for a Constitution Day talk tracing that history and applying it to our modern world. Led by Dr. Josh Weikert, Chair of the Civic Engagement and Leadership Department, we’ll examine how the Supreme Court is redefining privacy rights for the digital age, what’s still unsettled, and where we can expect this essential right to go from here.
