Melissa Rice Speaks at Student Media Convention

Melissa Rice, assistant professor of communications, was a speaker at the National Student Media Convention held in Philadelphia. Her  session, “Mental Health and the Media: Beyond the Headlines,” focused on the importance of accurately representing mental health in the media and using social media as a positive platform for awareness, support, and connection.

“I had an incredible audience of college students from across the country who asked thoughtful questions and shared insightful perspectives,” Rice said. “It was such a rewarding experience connecting with future media professionals.”

The convention is held annually by College Broadcasters Inc., a member-driven organization serving students and advisers of college and high school electronic media outlets.
