Pilgrimages

Pilgrimages is Immaculata University’s long-running literary magazine. Our mission is to publish the best student writing, photography and art that the Immaculata undergraduate community offers. We are in search of highly creative, original, and innovative work and currently accept all genres and styles of writing including: poetry, prose, fiction, flash fiction, short story, novel excerpts, screenplay, memoir, narrative essay, and creative nonfiction.

Pilgrimages is run by The Mighty Pen editorial board, a talented group of student editors, and founded by Pilgrimages faculty advisor, Dr. Virginia Lindak.

Fall Submissions & Photography Cover Contest

Open call submissions for writing, photography and art run through the fall semester. We encourage abstract, nature and landscape photography for the Photography Cover Contest. A winning photo will be selected as the cover of the spring issue. The fall submission deadline is Nov. 30.

Spring Submissions & Writing Contest

Every spring, we accept submissions for the annual Gunard B. Carlson Creative Writing Contest. A suggested theme will be announced for contest submissions which will also be the theme of the upcoming issue of the magazine. All contest submissions are eligible to be published.

Submission Guidelines

We are dedicated to publishing diverse written pieces and art. We embrace both traditional and innovative writing styles and welcome previously unpublished work by Immaculata University students. Pilgrimages is published annually each spring, in print and digitally.

Please send all written pieces in a single Word document or equivalent file with bolded titles.

Please send photography and art pieces as individual .jpgs with their titles as file names. Do not include your name in the document.

Along with your submissions, please include your name, contact information, and the genre of your submissions in the body of your email. You may submit in more than one genre, but please clarify the genre of each piece, and follow the proper genre guidelines.
