Languages and Cultures Minors
Global Studies
This minor will prepare you for work and life in a modern and interconnected world. It will help you develop a critical perspective on the social, political, economic, literary, psychological, artistic, philosophical, and cultural processes associated with globalization and the impacts of global media.
The interdisciplinary approach of the minor, taken from the full range of the humanities and social sciences, allows you, regardless of your major, to enhance your education with a global perspective.
Irish Studies
The interdisciplinary Irish studies minor will help you move beyond clichés to learn about Irish culture, literature, and history and to examine current issues relating to the Irish and Irish-American experience.
You will take at least one Irish language course, and you may be able to earn academic credit toward this minor by studying abroad in Ireland.
Middle East Studies
The Middle East Studies minor offers you a background in the history, language, politics and culture of the Middle East. You will study the philosophy and religion of the Islamic world, and you can choose to take courses in modern standard Arabic or Middle Eastern literature translated into English.
