SUMMARY:Preparedness & Resilience Speaker Series
DESCRIPTION:Putting Faith into Action\nIn the United States and overseas\, faith-based organizations (FBOs) provide vital disaster management services\, particularly during the recovery periods\, which may last for years. Helping others through what is often the worst days of their lives\, members of FBOs find such work emotionally and spiritually fulfilling\, as a means for them to tangibly put their faith into action. \nAt the panel event\, three professionals with a wealth of experience in this work will highlight the work that FBOs do following disasters and what it means to be a member of an FBO. \nThe panelists will be: \n\nDavid Hunsicker formerly of US AID\, and now a consultant specializing in religion and disaster relief.\nJess Morrell with Catholic Relief Services\, and the former assistant director of the campus ministry here at Immaculata.\nDenise Shelton with the Eastern Conference of the United Methodists Disaster Response.\n\nThe panel will start at 6 p.m. in Loyola 127 and last an hour with time for Q&A’s. The event is open to anyone\, and no registration is required.
