Immaculata University’s Volunteer Service Projects Promote Lifelong Servant Leadership

The entire Immaculata University class of 2022 is participating in a community service project on Saturday, August 25, as part of their New Student Orientation (NSO) and begins their First-Year Experience (FYE). Several Philadelphia Catholic schools and local organizations will be the benefactors of this all-day volunteer project that has been at the crux of Immaculata’s mission of service and activities for New Student Orientation.

“At Immaculata, the expectation is that we give back to the community,” states Lynn Rothenhoefer, associate dean of students and co-chair of NSO.

Following is a list of volunteer sites:

  • Saint Veronica Catholic School
    3521 North 6thStreet, Philadelphia (19140)
  • Rose of Lima School
    1522 North Wanamaker Street (19131)
  • Saint Martin de Porres
2340 West Lehigh Avenue, Philadelphia (19132)
  • Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls
1000 West Lycoming Street, Philadelphia (19140)
  • Camilla Hall
1145 West King Road, Malvern, PA 19345
  • Ridley Creek State Park
1023 Sycamore Mills Road, Media, PA
  • Share Food Program
2901 West Hunting Park Avenue, Philadelphia (19129)

“We hope that this service experience encourages our students to get to know one another by working together. As one of Immaculata University’s core values, service is part of the culture that we like to get started early, and continue throughout their Immaculata experience and beyond,” comments Rothenhoefer on the importance of the service trip. “We believe it reveals to them that in true ‘servant leadership’ we are our best selves when we put the needs of others before our own.”

At the schools, Immaculata students will be engaged in clean-up activities such as purging and sorting items, painting, and preparing the schools for opening day. All of the supplies are provided by Immaculata University. At Share Food Program, the students will be sorting through donated food items.

Immaculata University is a comprehensive, Catholic, coeducational institution of higher education, located on the Main Line between Malvern and Exton, 20 miles west of Philadelphia.
