Immaculata University Awards Gala Recipients Announced

IMMACULATA UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES RECIPIENTS OF THE AWARDS GALA INCLUDING NEW AWARD HONORING YOUNG ALUMNI

Immaculata University announces that the recipients of the 2018 Awards Gala will be honored at an event, held at Immaculata, on October 12.

The Alumni Medal: Mary Louise Cassidy Kramer ’70
Kramer of Richmond, VA will receive the Alumni Medal, which honors alumni and is presented in recognition of outstanding volunteer service and support of Immaculata University. After launching a successful law career, Kramer returned to her alma mater to serve on the Alumni Board of Governors. Additionally, Kramer and her husband established the Catherine Walsh and Helen Walsh Kramer Memorial Scholarship for students attending Immaculata. Her commitment to Immaculata is reflected in Kramer’s passion for sustaining the scholarship, which is her way of giving back to the university.

The Amethyst Award: Norma Hall Brown ’85
The Amethyst Award honors alumni in recognition of their outstanding contribution to or achievement in a church, community or professional activity. Brown, of Stratford, CT, is a breast cancer survivor and serves as a speaker for the Norma Phriem Center and for Catwalk for a Cure. As a licensed optician, she has visited Mexico where she provides underprivileged children with eyeglasses. She also volunteers her time in a Bible studies class at the Bridgeport Rescue Mission. Brown is active in her church, Dabar Tabernacle of Deliverance, and serves as a missionary. Brown’s dedication to Immaculata has been reflected in her continued attendance at campus events and service as the Immaculata representative at college fairs in Connecticut.

The Mother Camilla Award: Frank Ortner, Jr., Esq.
The Mother Camilla Award is presented to those who demonstrate leadership and vision to sustain the future of Immaculata through service – including volunteerism, counsel and philanthropic support – to carry on the mission and vision of Mother Camilla. Ortner, who resides in Malvern, PA, is chairman of OneSource Retirement Advisors and is considered an expert in the field of estate and financial planning. For over 20 years, he has volunteered his time at Immaculata University by serving on the planned giving committee for Institutional Advancement. He also gives seminars on estate and financial planning on campus. Additionally, he helps alumni and friends of the university who are interested in leaving a bequest in their will or trust to the university.

The Scientia Floret Virtute Award: Paul McAndrew ’10, ’15 M.A.
McAndrew of Malvern, PA will be the first recipient of the Scientia Floret Virtute Award, which honors recent alumni who have graduated within the last 10 years and who have made outstanding contributions to their profession, community, or service to Immaculata University while upholding the mission and values of Immaculata. McAndrew has demonstrated his dedication to Immaculata University by volunteering for events and serving as an alumni admissions ambassador. He also founded AGAPE, a young alumni retreat program which was inspired by his experiences with campus ministry. McAndrew has served six years on the Alumni Association Board of Governors.
