What do Mission and Ministry Mean?

“The call of mission is not restricted to certain peoples or geographical areas; it includes peoples of all races, nations, and generations. All things are ultimately about God’s plan for us and all of creation. God is always bigger than our image of God, so we reflect with the eyes of faith on how God has been active from creation throughout history. British missiologist Fr. Tony Gittins, said that mission is God’s job description, capturing both what God does and who God is.

All people are made in God’s image and are to reflect this self-giving love of God. Jesus shows us concretely what this means. Jesus knew that God’s love was inclusive of all peoples. Everything that Jesus was and did was focused on preaching, serving, and witnessing to the reign of God.”
