What do Mission and Ministry Mean?

Dear Immaculata Community,

“While maintaining a stance of compassion, appreciation, and respect, mission needs to be prophetic in speaking out against that which puts and keeps the poor in that state, and pointing out those aspects of culture that are contrary to the reign of God, and in maintaining that Jesus is the way the truth and the life (John 14-6).

Prophecy must be rooted in the dialogue with God’s word and the sensitivity to the ‘signs of the times’ (“Gaudium et Spes,” 4), and the stirring in people’s hearts. Prophecy involves speaking forth or pointing to the presence of God’s reign which is not recognized.”
