Reflections

Dear Immaculata Community,

Yesterday we honored Mary, the mother of Jesus!  This feast is an opportunity to celebrate the Church’s teaching that Mary was conceived without original sin, which was inherited from Adam and Eve, our first parents. That story is told in today’s first reading from the book of Genesis (3:9-15, 20).

The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception is a Holy Day of Obligation, so Catholics attend Mass just like any Sunday. It is also the feast day of our school – Immaculata, and Mary stands on our Dome – reminding us of her loving patronage.

Let us pray: “Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women.”  Additionally, we might celebrate by praying a Rosary or singing a Marian hymn like “Ave Maria.”

Peace to you!

Sister Antoine
