New PHEAA Grow PA Grant

Communities across the Commonwealth have experienced the growing crisis of a declining workforce within certain in-demand occupations. PHEAA has launched Grow PA, a scholarship program for undergraduate students, enrolled both full-time and half-time. Half-time students can receive up to $2,500 per year. Full-time students can receive a maximum of $5,000 per year.

This new grant is first come, first served.

To be considered for the Grow PA Grant Program, you must:

  • File the 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®)
  • Be a current resident of Pennsylvania
  • Meet satisfactory academic progress for Title IV financial aid
  • Have not earned a bachelor’s degree
  • Be enrolled at least half-time at an approved institution and enrolled in an eligible program of study as determined by PHEAA
  • Sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN) agreeing to repay all funds received if the work requirement is not met, including any potential interest accrued

There are over 460 eligible programs of study or majors that lead to in-demand occupations in a variety of fields, such as agriculture, business, education, computer science, STEM, nursing, allied health, and criminal justice. The Grow PA Grant application launches on Thursday, March 13, 2025. See the list of eligible majors and get more details about the program.

After graduation, you must commit to work in Pennsylvania, within the in-demand occupation, for a number of years equal to the number of years in which you received the grant. That means your total years of Grow PA Grant funding must equal your total years of qualifying employment in the state—up to 4 years.

REMINDER: If the work requirement is not satisfied, you will be required to repay the Grow PA Grant.
