March is Pop-Tarts Month at IU Cares Food Cupboard

The IU Cares Food Cupboard is open to all students regardless of need level.  Located in room 322 of Loyola Hall, the pantry is an anonymous and easily accessible resource you can use whenever you need it.

Want to help? Donations can be placed in any of these convenient drop-off locations:

  • Villa Maria Terrace Rotunda
  • Nazareth Hall Entrance
  • Faculty Center Terrace Level
  • Loyola Hall Lobby
  • Or, bring directly to Loyola 322

Donation requests include Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts—but any toaster pastries are appreciated. We’re always happy to accept any non-perishable food items or personal hygiene products. Your donations make a real difference to our students.

What’s your favorite Pop-Tart?

Kellogg’s created Pop-Tarts as an “on-the-go” breakfast pastry in 1964.

The prototype was called fruit scones, but the fruit exploded when it got hot—the solution was to poke holes in the top of the pastry so the steam could escape.

As of 2021, there have been 20 standard Pop-Tart flavors, generating around $1 billion in net sales annually. (Source)
