First-Year Seminar Course Visits Amazon

Group of students at Amazon warehouseImmaculata students learned the secrets of Amazon’s supply chain through the First-year Seminar course, “The Rise of Amazon,” taught by Michael Stevens, MBA, a leader in supply chain management education.

Jason Smaron, Kyle Mazari, John Phillips, Kate Daly, Damian Malo, and Liz Lopez recently joined Faculty Instructor Stevens on an in-person tour of Amazon EWR4, a large fulfillment center located in Robbinsville Township, NJ. The center is known as “The Beast of the East,” with a marathon distance (26.1 miles) of conveyors. The  students experienced a product’s journey through Amazon’s sophisticated operations. They viewed processes like Pick, Pack, SLAM, and Ship and saw how technology and teamwork power Amazon’s fulfillment success.

It also offers students an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at one of the world’s most innovative companies, featuring guest speakers from various Amazon departments, including Prime Air’s drone delivery service and Ring.
