First Generation Student Honor Society
Are you the first in your family to attend college? Are you exceling in your studies at IU? If so, you may be eligible to join IU’s chapter of Alpha, Alpha, Alpha, a national honor society that recognizes the academic achievements of first-generation college students.
The National Society of Alpha Alpha Alpha is now accepting new membership applications. Alpha Alpha Alpha (or Tri-Alpha) recognizes the academic achievements of first-generation college students.
To qualify,
Undergraduate students must meet the following criteria:
- be a current degree candidate at Immaculata University
- have earned at least 30 credit/semester hours and at least 12 of those credits must have been completed at Immaculata University
- have an overall GPA of at least 3.2 in all coursework, and
- come from a family where neither parent nor any legal guardians have earned a bachelor’s degree.
Graduate students must meet the following criteria:
- be a current degree candidate at Immaculata University
- have completed the equivalent of at least one term of study (9 or more credits) at Immaculata University
- have an overall GPA of at least 3.5 in all coursework, and
- come from a family where neither parent nor any legal guardians have earned a bachelor’s degree.
Should you meet the criteria outlined above, please submit all of the following to the Center for Undergraduate Advising, 26 Villa Maria or at academicadvising@immaculata.edu
Applications must be submitted/postmarked by Friday, February 21, 2025:
- A completed Tri-Alpha application form
- A $20.00 check payable to Immaculata University or pay online via this link: https://square.link/u/HuwJjwIa
- Students may also purchase honor cords for an additional $20 at the link above
All Inductees will be notified of acceptance by mid-March, 2025.
The Undergraduate* Induction Ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, April 27, 2025. Your one-time dues payment of $20.00 gives you lifetime membership in Alpha Alpha Alpha. (Honor cords are an additional $20)
*Please note graduate students will receive their certificates individually from the College of Graduate Studies.
Membership in Alpha Alpha Alpha is noted on the transcript and is included in the formal, official graduation program. Inductees have the option to order a pin and honor cord that can be worn at graduation. It is an honor!
