Montgomery County Resident Receives Prestigious Medal from Immaculata University

AUDUBON, PA, RESIDENT RECEIVES IMMACULATA UNIVERSITY’S PRESTIGIOUS SAINT CATHERINE MEDAL

Immaculata University is pleased to announce that Maria Pisano ’18, of Audubon, Pa., recently received the prestigious Saint Catherine of Alexandria Medal for 2018-2019. The Medal was presented during the Mass of the Holy Spirit.

Pisano is an active student in the classroom and a role model for other students throughout the campus community. She is a communication major, with a concentration in public relations and journalism and a minor in psychology; she is graduating at the end of the fall semester. Pisano has been a resident assistant for the past two years, and is involved in a variety of activities around campus, including IU Dance Company and Crown of Creation. She is also an admissions ambassador and serves as president of the Catholic Relief Service Ambassadors at Immaculata.

“I am honored to receive the Saint Catherine Medal from Immaculata University,” Pisano says, “The past four years have given me the most amazing experiences, friends, and mentors, and I wouldn’t be where I am without them.”

Kappa Gamma Pi, a national honor society for graduates of Catholic colleges, sponsors this medal which is named after Saint Catherine of Alexandria, who represents wisdom, fortitude, and Christian service. Kappa Gamma Pi offers the medal to a student at the conclusion of his/her junior year. The selection is made by the University faculty and/or classmates on the basis of leadership and service to the institution.

Immaculata is a Catholic, coeducational institution of higher learning. Established by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM), Immaculata has been providing a quality education to students since 1920. The University offers academic programs at the associate, baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral levels. Additionally, Immaculata offers 23 NCAA Division III varsity sports to student-athletes. Immaculata is located on 375 acres on the Main Line between Malvern and Exton, 30 miles west of Philadelphia.
