DESCRIPTION:Join history professor Dr. Levi Fox for a public history day at Immaculata. \nCelebrate Immaculata’s Annual Douglass Day in Good Counsel 8 with a transcribe-a-thon in honor of the birthday of Frederick Douglass (1818-95). \nAll are welcome to participate. No prior experience is necessary. Pizza and birthday cake will be served. Bring your own laptop! Please feel free to share with students\, faculty\, staff\, and community members. Please RSVP by e-mailing Dr. Fox at: LFox1@immaculata.edu \nIf you can’t make it to Good Counsel 8 you can still participate at home through Zoom! \nSPONSORED BY THE LABYRINTH ONLINE JOURNAL/IMMACULATA HONORS PROGRAM \nAbout the global Douglass Day transcribe-a-thon: \nThe transcribe-a-thon will bring together thousands of participants at over one hundred simultaneous events around the world. Students\, teachers\, and community members will help to create new and freely available resources for learning about Black history. \nThe Douglass Day transcribe-a-thon will be held on February 13\, 2026 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m (Eastern) and will be streamed live on YouTube. The transcribing will be done on Crowd.loc.gov\, a citizen science platform led by the the Library of Congress. Douglass Day invites people from all backgrounds to join in this effort to make Douglass’s correspondence more widely accessible and searchable. https://douglassday.org/
