Admissions Requirements

No GRE or GMAT required!

  • Submit your application to Immaculata University
  • Official undergraduate transcripts
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • GPA of >3.0 (Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA in the program and earn a minimum of a B grade in their graduate course work.)
  • Students having a GPA between 2.5 and 3.0 will be brought in as non- matriculated students.

Curriculum

The Aging and Long Term Care Management (3)

The aging and long term care management course includes didactic learning surrounding the effect of the increasing numbers in the aging population as the baby boomers continue to age and live longer with improved technology and medicine.
This course will also focus on the management of retirement and skilled nursing facilities and their efforts to keep up with the demands of a consumer driven influence on new nursing home environment. This course will provide opportunities for students to understand the developmental experiences of all people across the lifespan that are included in GEN 501.

Fiscal Management in Health Care (3)

The fiscal management in health care courses includes didactic learning in utilizing the previously learned methods in accounting to and apply those methods in making budgetary and price and service decisions, cost allocation and time value of money determinations in making financial managerial decisions in healthcare.

Risk Management and Patient Affairs (3)

The risk management and patient affairs course includes didactic learning that will include focus on managing patient health care risks. Instruction will include a review of the importance of the health care record as well as the role of the risk management team in the health care facility. Mitigating loss throughout the health care industry will be discussed.

Health Care Strategic Planning and Marketing (3)

The health care strategic planning and marketing course includes didactic learning in business planning and marketing as it applies to health care organizations. This course will focus on the needs of health consumer behavior, customer groups, clinical staff needs, forecasting and marketing. Advertising and public relations are also discussed. Discussion of developmental theories related to the human growth process and factors that affect the process of human growth and development that are included in GEN 501.

Health Care Management Capstone (3)

The health care management capstone course will allow the student to review recent and relevant information, using critical analysis, on a topic in the health care management field. A sound understanding of the literature will be displayed in the writing of a clear and concise literature review in an academic manner.
(Pre-requisite GEN 502 is required)

Resources, Recruitment and Retention in Health Care (3)

The resources, recruitment and retention in Health Care course includes didactic learning on the resources needed to recruit and retain competent health care professionals in the health care industry to provide care for patients while protecting the medical professional. Develop an understanding of interpersonal relationships and person to person and group interactions that are included in GEN 503.

Health Economics (3)

The health economics course includes didactic learning focusing on economic issues in producing, delivering and financing health care. The course will discuss the impact of economics on the delivery of medical care influenced by the role of insurance companies, physicians and the medical care markets.

Health Care Politics and Policy (3)

The health care politics and policy course includes an introduction to health policy and the how governmental influence affects the outcomes in the delivery of health care. Accessibility of care, quality of care and safety and the environment, issues connected to health policy will be discussed.

Medical Practice Management (3)

The medical practice management course explores the foundational aspects of practice management. The focus of this course will explore the operational management of a health care practice. Customer service and attention to patient needs as well as direction of the health care staff will be discussed.
