Writing Assistants

Writing Assistants (WAs) consult with Immaculata University students in one-on-one or group writing sessions.  WAs are available to answer questions about writing and guide students in finding and comprehending writing resources.

How to Become a Writing Assistant:

To work in our Writing Center, as a WA, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of ENG 106 and 107 or 117 composition classes at IU (or equivalent) with a grade of B+ or better
  • GPA of no less than 3.2
  • Writing sample submitted to the Director, Lauren McCann
  • Interview with the Director
  • Completion of Writing Center application
  • Ability to work one-on-one with a student
  • Permission by Financial Aid for any expected payment

If you are interested in becoming a Writing Assistant, you will need to complete the application form, submit a writing sample, and schedule a meeting with the Writing Center Director, Lauren McCann.  For further information about working as a Writing Assistant, contact us at (484) 323-3494.

The Writing Center operates on a semester-based schedule.
When classes are not in session, the Center is closed.
