Writing Center

You are here

Graduate Students

The Writing Center will assist graduate students with the writing process. Please stop by the 1st Floor of Gabriele Library, or call (484) 323-3494 during the hours of operation to make an appointment for a writing session with one of our Writing Assistants.

Writing Sessions

Graduate student writing sessions are available for in-center and online appointments. Undergraduate as well as professional writing assistants are available each hour the center is open. If you prefer to work with a professional writing assistant, please write "grad" next to your name on the sign-up board or say that you are a graduate student when you call or Email the writing center for an appointment. You are free to work with whomever you choose; it's your preference.

For online sessions (off-campus, online, ACCEL, and nursing students), you can state that you are a graduate student when you send your paper to the OWL. While a professional is not always available via the OWL, the OWL coordinator will do her best to assign you to a professional.

Dissertation Writing Sessions

Dissertation writing sessions are a personal, individualized process between the professional writing assistant and the dissertation student. Graduate students working on dissertations who wish to work with a professional writing assistant should send an Email to writingcenter@immaculata.edu  to make an appointment. When you write the Email, please include the following:

  • subject line that reads "Dissertation Session Request."
  • your phone number, if you would like a call
  • attach (as a Word document) any work that you have completed thus far with or without comments from your committee

A professional from the Writing Center will Email or call you to discuss the next steps. Sister Claudine Hagerty, IHM and Sister Caritas Schafer, IHM primarily work with graduate students through the dissertation process. Before your first meeting with Sister Claudine or Sister Caritas, please review and complete the IU Writing Center Dissertation Referral Form.
