Tom Machamer Named SID at IU
Immaculata, PA – Immaculata University has named Tom Machamer as its sports information director. Machamer has been in the sports information field since his days as an undergrad at West Chester University, and comes to Immaculata from New York University, where he has served as an assistant SID since 2002.
Machamer holds a bachelor of arts degree in communications studies from West Chester, where he serves as a student assistant in the sports information office from 1997-99. His travels have taken him up and down the East Coast over the past seven years, but he returns to his Philadelphia-area roots on August 1, when he takes over the sports information reigns at Immaculata from assistant athletic director Bob Macartney.
"We are thrilled to have Tom as part of our staff," Immaculata Athletic Director Patty Canterino said.
Machamer was the assistant SID at Elon University from 1999-2000, and an assistant in the sports information office at the University of Hartford from 2000-01. He spent one year as the SID at the University of New Haven before heading to NYU, where he has served as the media liaison for a number of teams, including the women´s volleyball program, which advanced to the Final Four in 2004 and 2005.
Machamer is an active member of CoSIDA and ECAC-SIDA.
Immaculata University, a Catholic, coeducational institution, is located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, south of the intersection of route 30 and 352, between Paoli and Exton.
