The Active Minds at Immaculata University Presents 2nd Annual “Stomp Out Stigma” 5K Walk/Run
Active Minds at Immaculata University presents "Stomp out Stigma" 5K Run/Walk. The event is held on Immaculata University´s campus on Sunday, April 19, with registration beginning at 9:00 a.m. (rain date is Sunday, April 26, 2009). Registration for the run/walk is $25.00, due on the day of the event and includes food, entertainment and prizes. Special guest speakers include Senator Andrew Dinniman and Gary Entrekin, administrator for Chester County Mental Health/Mental Retardation.
Active Minds is a national organization of students who support college students who are suffering with mental health problems. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Active Minds, Inc. and the Coad Group (Chester County Mental Health Services) to help raise awareness for mental illness, support the fight against the stigma in our society, and also influence a better mental healthcare system. With 110 participants, last year´s inaugural event raised $3,000. The president of Active Minds at Immaculata University, Melissa Hopely, a senior from Havertown, PA, initiated the event and is dedicated to its success.
