Play4Kay, formerly known as the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Pink Zone, is an opportunity for a nation of coaches to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.

All fans attending the game were encouraged to join the Mighty Macs and wear pink as a show of their support in the fight against breast cancer. The women’s basketball team showcased their pink uniforms for the special event.

All proceeds from the game’s ticket sales benefited the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund was founded in 2007 in partnership with The V Foundation for Cancer Research, to raise money in the fight against women’s cancers. The late Kay Yow was the former North Carolina State University head women’s basketball coach and a past president of the WBCA. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 and passed away on January 24, 2009 after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer.

The Mighty Macs’ women’s squad was unable to overcome an early deficit as its second-half push fell just short of visiting Keystone College, 69-63. The Immaculata men’s team came up with a big 61-59 Senior Night victory over Neumann. Both the men’s and women’s teams celebrated Senior Day before each game, honoring the contributions of their senior player.
