				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.immaculata.edu/">Immaculata University</a> is hosting a week of events focused on preparing undergraduate students for the world of work. Sponsored by the <a href="http://www.immaculata.edu/campus_life/CareerDevelopment">Office of Career Development</a> and the <a href="http://www.immaculata.edu/pathways/">Pathways to Success Center</a>, a variety of workshops will be offered from November 26 to 30, designed to help students choose a career, prepare job application materials, and develop appropriate interpersonal skills. These events are free and open to the public.</p>
<p><em>Schedule of Events: </em></p>
<p><strong><em>Do What You Are! Introduction to Career Inventories</em></strong><strong><em> </em></strong></p>
<p>Tuesday, November 27, 4:30–6 p.m. in Good Counsel Hall 31</p>
<p>This interactive session takes students on a journey of exploration, introducing them to what career inventories are and how they can be used in making difficult decisions regarding selecting a career path, choosing academic majors, finding jobs, and developing a sense of purpose.</p>
<p><strong><em>The Art of Connecting: Résumés &amp; Portfolios</em></strong><strong><em> </em></strong></p>
<p>Wednesday, November 28, 3–4:30 p.m. in Terrace Rotunda, Villa Maria Hall</p>
<p>This demonstration and discussion teaches students the basics of preparing a polished résumé and career portfolio.  Online career portfolios have become very popular over the past few years, and they can help bring your resume to life.  Students will not only learn about free portfolio tools available to them, but will also be guided through the creation process.</p>
<p><strong><em>Interpersonal &amp; Soft Skills </em></strong></p>
<p>Wednesday, November 28, 5:30 p.m. in Terrace Rotunda, Villa Maria Hall</p>
<p>Pat Troy-Brooks, a workforce expert, author, speaker, and consultant from Advanced Staffing, will be speaking about the importance of interpersonal and soft skills in obtaining and keeping a job. Students can enter their names for a chance to win a prize.</p>
<p><strong><em>Budgeting in College: Spend Wisely</em></strong></p>
<p>Thursday, November 29, 2–3:30 p.m. in Terrace Rotunda, Villa Maria Hall</p>
<p>Brian Petersen from the Office of Financial Aid will be talking about ways students can budget in college and position themselves for financial success after college.</p>
<p><strong><em>Creating Your Online Presence</em></strong><em> </em></p>
<p>Thursday, November 29, 6–7:30 p.m. in the Terrace Rotunda</p>
<p>Donna Serdula, a social media expert, will talk about the importance of appropriately creating and maintaining your presence online.</p>
<p><strong><em>Professional Attire Basics: Dress Up Your Wardrobe on a Budget!</em></strong><em> </em></p>
<p>Friday, November 30, 12–1 p.m. in the Terrace Rotunda, Villa Maria Hall</p>
<p>Find out from Immaculata fashion students how you can be fashion forward with your business clothes without breaking the bank, and still looking professional!</p>
<p>In addition to these events, Career Development staff will be available at certain times during the week in Nazareth Hall’s terrace level to offer additional information about the events, provide free coffee and snacks, and schedule individual appointments.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.immaculata.edu/">Immaculata University</a> announces that Sister Joseph Marie Carter, IHM, Ed.D., has been appointed as dean of the College of Undergraduate Studies.  Sister Joseph will be responsible for the newly operational Pathways Center, which centralizes many campus resources for students such as career development, advisement, and academic success services.  In addition to these duties, she will oversee academic programming for the traditional-age students and support enrollment and recruitment events.</p>
<p>Beginning her career as a first grade teacher in the Philadelphia region, Sister taught in elementary schools in Pennsylvania and in Lima, Peru.  Sister Joseph became principal of Holy Family School in Harrisburg before returning to Immaculata as an assistant professor in the Education Division where she taught Undergraduate, Masters and doctoral level classes. In 2009, Sister Joseph became director of Academic Advisement which led to her current position as dean for the College of Undergraduate Studies.</p>
<p>Receiving a B.A. in English from Immaculata, Sister Joseph continued her education earning an M.Ed in Elementary Education from West Chester State University, an M.S.Ed in Administration and Supervision from Fordham University and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Immaculata.</p>
<p> “It’s a pleasure to work with the Immaculata students and bring them the integrated services needed to develop holistically into mature men and women prepared for the future”, commented Sister Joseph on her new appointment.</p>
