Christopher DiCamillo, Class of 2013, is Immaculata University’s first recipient of the Jacobs Music Steinway Award. The award is given to a graduating senior, chosen by the music faculty, in recognition of outstanding pianistic ability, musicianship, and artistic and academic scholarship. The recipient receives a cash gift and a plaque of recognition.

DiCamillo will perform and receive the award on Friday, May 31 at a concert showcasing seven music majors. The concert will open the Steinway Comes to Immaculata piano sale weekend. The performance is free and open to the public, and it will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Villa Maria Hall’s Memorial Hall on the University’s campus.

DiCamillo recently graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in music and a concentration in performance. He credits the faculty and administration, as well as supportive family and friends, with helping him earn a place in the Honors Society and the National Music Honors Society, as well as two certificates of honor. He studied under Steinway Artist William Carr, DMA, professor of music at Immaculata. DiCamillo’s studies coincided with Immaculata’s honor of becoming an All-Steinway School last year, bringing the world’s most respected hand-built pianos into each practice room and performance space at the University.

“Performance-quality pianos truly helped me explore musical concepts more successfully,” said DiCamillo. “You hear yourself better. And when that happens, you’re more able to control and convey what’s in your soul to an audience.”

“We congratulate Christopher DiCamillo as the first Jacobs Music Company Steinway Award recipient at Immaculata University,” said Al C. Rinaldi, chairman and CEO of Jacobs Music Company. “Immaculata University has provided Christopher and his colleagues with the finest instruments, Steinway pianos, on which to develop their musical skills. We at Jacobs Music are proud to have played a part in providing these instruments to the University and its students, and we applaud Immaculata for making this investment in excellence.”

Jacobs Music Company is the Philadelphia area’s exclusive representative for new and authentically restored Steinway & Sons pianos and Steinway-designed Boston and Essex pianos.

Immaculata University is a Catholic, comprehensive, coeducational institution of higher education, located on the Main Line between Malvern and Exton, 20 miles west of Philadelphia.
