Social Media Expert Speaks at IU

Jason Falls, co-author of a new guide to social media, will speak at Immaculata University on Wednesday, November 16, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in Loyola Hall room 127. Falls will discuss social media strategy and measuring its success, using social media for business, conversational marketing, and public relations in a social era. Refreshments will be served, and the event is free and open to the public.
Jason Falls is the founder of Social Media Explorer, an information, education and consulting services company for digital and social media marketing. An award-winning social media strategist, Falls has worked with international, national, regional and niche brands as a social media strategist, consultant and educator. Falls has spoken nationally and internationally on digital marketing topics. He edits and authors one of the most widely read and well-respected blogs in the industry and shares insight and instruction to a community of subscribers at ExploringSocialMedia.com. He is a featured speaker for Verizon´s Thinkfinity Education Speaking Series, and he is the keynote speaker at the upcoming SocialMediaPlus Conference in Philadelphia, the Mid-Atlantic region´s largest business summit about social media and web 2.0 technology.
Falls´ book, written with Erik Deckers, explains the power of social media, why organizations need to use it in order to survive, and how they can use it strategically to promote and protect their brand, build community, enhance customer service, support research and development, and gain new customers.
Stephen Vujevich ´11, a communication and public relations major and now a development communications specialist at Gwynedd-Mercy College, attended a webinar led by Falls on October 6. Vujevich then connected with him on LinkedIn and approached him about the possibility of speaking at Immaculata.
"Jason Falls is the preeminent voice in the realm of social media advertising today," says Dr. Sean Flannery, assistant professor of English at Immaculata and coordinator of Falls´ visit. "His blog, Social Media Explorer, is both a proactive and reactive resource positing new trends in the realm of social media, while simultaneously validating, critiquing, or augmenting current trends across the spectrum of social media marketing, branding, public relations, and promotions with his considerable knowledge of the industry. I consider it a tremendous coup that he has agreed to speak at Immaculata, and I hope students, faculty, staff, and administration alike can all reap the benefits of such a cutting-edge and contemporaneous speaker."
Immaculata University is a residential, Catholic, coeducational institution of higher education, located on the Main Line between Malvern and Exton, 20 miles west of Philadelphia.
