Sister Judith Parsons Joins Faculty of Immaculata

SISTER JUDITH PARSONS, IHM, APPOINTED TO
PHILOSOPHY DEPARTMENT AT IMMACULATA UNIVERSITY
Sister Judith Parsons, IHM, has taken a position as an instructor in the Philosophy Department of Immaculata University.
Sister Judith has a special interest in phenomenology, and specializes in twentieth-century phenomenologist Edith Stein. Prior to joining the full-time staff, Sister Judith served as a part-time instructor at Immaculata University from 2003 to 2004. From 1997-2003, Sister Judith worked on her education, achieving a master´s degree in philosophy. She also worked for the past two decades as an elementary school teacher in Philadelphia, Bensalem, Darby, Pittsburgh, Arlington, VA, and Los Altos, CA. Her professional activities include serving as co-chair of the Middle States Committee at Saint Charles Borromeo School, Philadelphia, as a member of the Middle States visiting team in Halethorpe, MD, as well as a member of the IHM standing committee for Professional Development. Sister Judith is a member of the American Catholic Philosophical Association and would like to start a local Edith Stein Society.
She received her B.A. in Theology from Immaculata College in 1985. In 1995, she received her B.A. in Humanities from Saint Joseph´s University. In 1999, she received her M.A. in Philosophy from Duquesne University and is currently doctoral candidate at Duquesne University.
At Immaculata, she hopes to make an impact on the students she will be teaching. "A new horizon is unfolding here at Immaculata University and I am privileged to be a part of such a vibrant and motivated community. I am convinced that the study of philosophy is a core requirement for any educational program and I am proud that our students have access to such a rich tradition. Immaculata University, a Catholic, coeducational institution, is located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, south of the intersection of Routes 30 and 352, between Paoli and Exton.
