Paul Moore Band to Perform at Duffy’s Cut Fundraiser at Immaculata University

On Friday, February 25, the Paul Moore Band will perform at Immaculata University in the Great Hall for a fundraising event for Duffy´s Cut. Paul Moore, lead vocalist, is one of the original members of the well-known group, Blackthorn. Music will start at 7 p.m and tickets are $25 which includes Beef and Brew and raffle prizes. Duffy´s Cut is a project lead by William Watson, PhD., professor of history at Immaculata, and his brother J. Francis Watson, STM, MPhil, PhD, to unearth the remains of 57 Irish immigrants who came to America to work on the railroad. Within five weeks of their arrival all 57 Irishmen perished reportedly from cholera.
The Paul Moore Band is a Philadelphia based Irish Folk Band that performs contemporary and traditional Irish music along with original songs. Band members include: Paul Moore, lead vocals and acoustic guitar; Matt Brescia, whistles, flutes, concertina and vocals; Paraic Keane, fiddle; Patty Close, electric and acoustic guitar; and Nick Morolda, bass and vocals. Paul Moore has been a familiar voice in the Philadelphia Irish Music scene for almost 25 years. He was born into an Irish-American family in the Frankford section of Philadelphia. While studying in Dublin, he developed a love for Irish music and a desire to perform. His career includes six tours of Ireland, recording five popular CDs and headlining over 1,500 shows. In addition to Blackthorn, Moore has also been a member of several bands including Blarney Stones and Paddy´s Well. Moore appeared on radio shows, CBS-3 and Fox-29 television, and even performed with comedian Joe Conklin. The Paul Moore Band anticipates a new CD in the near future.
Immaculata University, a Catholic coeducational institution, is located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, south of the intersection of routes 30 and 352, between Paoli and Exton.
