Patty Canterino Named PAC Coach of the Year: Three Mighty Macs Named to All-PAC Team

Immaculata, PA – Immaculata University´s women´s basketball team had its best season in recent memory this past year, and on Tuesday, the Mighty Macs reaped some individual awards for their success.

Head coach Patty Canterino was named the 2005-06 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Women´s Basketball Coach of the Year after guiding the Mighty Macs to a 17-9 record, and the third seed in the Conference Tournament. Immaculata had been selected last in the Conference´s pre-season poll and improved its win total by 13 games from the 2004-05 season.

Three Mighty Macs players were named to the All-PAC team, led by juniors Mary Kate Pawlowski (Downingtown/Downingtown) and Meg Legere (Lancaster Catholic/Lancaster), both of whom were named to the All-PAC Second Team. Freshman Dominique Murray (Padua Academy/Wilmington, DE) was an honorable mention All-Conference selection.

Pawlowski averaged a team-high 11.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in 20 starts for the Mighty Macs. Legere finished third on the team in scoring and second in rebounding, averaging 10.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest. This was her second consecutive season on the All-PAC Team. Murray was second on the team in scoring (10.9 ppg) and blocked shots (28), and led the Mighty Macs in rebounding (7.2 rpg) on the season.
