CARL CRANMER TO BE GUEST SOLOIST FOR IMMACULATA SYMPHONY CONCERT ON NOVEMBER 16

The Immaculata Symphony will feature guest piano soloist Carl Cranmer for its fall concert, "An Orchestral Cornucopia" on Saturday, November 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the University´s Alumnae Hall Theater. The concert is sponsored by Immaculata University´s department of music.

Dr. Cranmer began his studies in piano at age six and made his first orchestra appearance with the Philadelphia Orchestra at age nine. Since then, he has performed both in Europe and the United States with several orchestras as well as in solo recitals. His performances have been televised in Japan, Spain, and the United States, and broadcast through radio stations in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Montreal, and on National Public Radio.

He received his undergraduate degree in piano from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and received his Master of Music and Doctor of Music degrees from the Juilliard School. Dr. Cranmer is currently assistant professor in the keyboard department at West Chester University.

The Immaculata Symphony, which is a university-community organization, is comprised of approximately 70 musicians ranging in age from 15 to 70 years old. Members include students from Immaculata University, West Chester University, and Downingtown School District. Other members of the Symphony are community and professional musicians.

Immaculata University is proud to offer this programming during its inaugural year as a university. Several events, including this one, are an affirmation of Immaculata´s mission of inspiring minds for over 80 years. Immaculata University ….treasuring the legacy – building the future.

Cost for the concert is $12.00 for general admission, $10 for senior citizens, $6 for students, and children under 12 are free. For more information or tickets call 610-647-4400, ext. 3473.
