IMMACULATA UNIVERSITY PRESENTS OBOE AND GUITAR CONCERT

As part of its annual Institute for Music and Healing, Immaculata University will host an oboe and guitar concert, "Imaginary Landscapes," featuring Jill and David Cullen. The concert will be held Friday, August 8, at 8:00 p.m. in Alumnae Hall Theater on the university´s campus.

Oboe/guitar duo Jill and David Cullen share a performance focus toward "open communication" with their audiences. They have performed extensively and have recorded albums on the Windham Hill label. Jill holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Temple University, while her husband David is a graduate of the Hartt College of Music.

IMMACULATA COLLEGE HOSTS 17TH ANNUAL INSTITUTE FOR MUSIC AND HEALING

Immaculata College will be the site for the 17th Annual Institute for Music and Healing on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, August 1, 2, and 3. All events will take place in Alumnae Hall, on the college´s campus.

The events planned at Immaculata for the Institute for Music and Healing include:

  • Thursday, August 1 – Musical Expressions XVII (opening event concert by composer David Darling) 7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, August 2 – Music for Everyone, Session I with David Darling and Music for People, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Music for Everyone, Session II, with David Darling and Music for People, from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m.
  • Friday, August 2 – Imaginary Journeys, an evening concert by Jill Haley and David Cullen (oboe and guitar) at 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 3 – Music for Children (ages 5 -12) with David Darling and Music for People, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 3 – Spiritual Awakenings Through Music, a workshop of selected papers and presentations, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 3 – Mitchell, Ash, D´Amico, a new music ensemble with new compositions performed, improvisations created, and an exploration of 21st Century Music Media, 2:00 p.m.

The purpose of the Institute is to foster a better understanding of the inner music which each person possesses and to capture, maintain, and generate that music for holistic and spiritual well being.

The entire Institute for Music and Healing is available for college credit or for non-credit. Participants may attend as many lectures, seminars, or concerts as they wish.
