IMMACULATA UNIVERSITY HOST AN OUTDOOR JAZZ FEST IN SEPTEMBER

Music of Fiddler on the Roof to be Performed

Immaculata University, in conjunction with the College of Graduate Studies´ Circles of Healing series, presents the Jazz Fiddler and the Alan McMahon Trio on Friday, September 19, at 7:30 p.m. The outdoor jazz concert takes place in the Gabriele Library Commons on the university´s campus.

The portrayal of emotion, rhythm, meaning, and song from the popular 1960s musical "Fiddler on the Roof," finds a new venue with the Alan McMahon Trio. The art of jazz restates these memorable tunes in an elegant and vibrant form.

Concertgoers may also participate in the lecture taking place on Saturday, September 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Members of the Alan McMahon Trio will discuss the raison d´etre of how this music has taken on new life in the classic jazz idiom, performed at its highest level while maintaining its popularity.

For participants interested in the Circles of Healing: The Jazz Fiddler and the Alan McMahon Trio one-credit undergraduate course (includes concert and lecture) the cost is $305; if taken at the graduate level, the cost is $420. The cost for both events if taken as a non-credit workshop is $160. The concert on Friday night is free and open to the public. For inclement weather, the concert will be held in Memorial Hall. Introduced during the inception of the graduate certificate in expressive arts, the Circles of Healing series presents initiative for study, experiential work, and practice in music, visual arts, dance, movement, and drama.
