New Golf Coach

IMMACULATA UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF
TANA RÈ FIGUERAS THOMAS AS COED GOLF COACH

Phoenixville, PA, resident Tana Rè Figueras Thomas has been named the golf coach of the first coed golf team at Immaculata University. Coach Thomas has coaching experience in NCAA Division I and III as well as the high school level.
As the first women´s golf coach at Northern Arizona University NCAA Division I program, she was named Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year in 1996 and 1997. Her team advanced to the NCAA West Regional in its second and third years of competition before being named Big Sky Conference champions in 1996 and 1997. In 1997 she was nominated for the Far West District Coach of the Year. She served as the first head women´s golf coach at Smith College in Northampton, MA, and head golf coach of the boys´ team at Sir Francis Drake High School in San Anselmo, CA.
Recently she was an instructor of the "Yoga for Golf" series at B-Fit Yoga in Harrisburg, PA, and is an independent golf instructor. For three years she served as executive director of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Oversight Council that led a 17-member council overseeing the state high school athletic association.
As a player she received several awards and scholarships including Player of the Year in the Desert Junior Golf Association and the San Diego Junior Golf Association. From 1988 to 1992, she was a member of the Arizona State University Women´s Golf Team, including the 1990 NCAA National Championship team.
Coach Thomas comments that "I am excited to return to coaching and thrilled at the opportunity to be the inaugural coach of the golf program at such a prestigious university as Immaculata. I have high expectations for the program and look forward to building a relationship with the community."
Coach Thomas received her bachelor´s degree in Humanities from Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ, and has completed course work towards her master´s degree in Exercise and Sports Science at Smith College. She is an LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Member.
Immaculata University, a Catholic, coeducational institution, is located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, south of the intersection of routes 30 and 352, between Paoli and Exton.
