Malvern Resident Letecia McKinney Joins IU Faculty

Dr. Letecia N. McKinney, graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, has joined the Immaculata University faculty in the Food, Fashion and Nutrition Department as an assistant professor of Fashion Marketing.
In addition to her Master of Science and Ph.D. specializing in Business and Economic Aspects of Clothing and Textiles from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Dr. McKinney earned a Bachelor of Science from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and was elected to membership in Kappa Omicron Nu national honor society.
Dr. McKinney´s work in teaching began in 2001, when she worked as an assistant professor in Consumer Science in the School of Human Ecology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She remained there until 2004, and in the following year began to teach Fashion Design part-time in the Fashion Marketing Program at The Art Institute of Philadelphia. She also worked part-time as an instructor at Delaware County Community College.
Her career includes several positions in the retail business, including assistant store manager at Peebles in Stafford, Virginia. She also worked as area sales manager at Hecht´s in Fairfax, Virginia, and a Store Analysis Coordinator for Charming Shoppes´ Fashion Bug Division.
Dr. McKinney served on various committees, including the Hospitality Committee, International Textile and Apparel Association Annual Conference in New York, where she presided over the Marketing Research session. She is a member of the American Collegiate Retailing Association, The American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, and the International Textile and Apparel Association.
Dr. McKinney´s background includes work as a reviewer for International Journal of Consumer Studies, the Clothing and Textiles Research Journal, and the AMS/ACRA Retailing Conference. She published her research on topics ranging from retail to consumer behavior in different social backgrounds in the International Journal of Consumer Studies, the International Review of Retail, Distribution and Consumer Research, The Family and Consumer Sciences Research Journal and other publications.
Immaculata University is a Catholic, coeducational institution located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, between Paoli and Exton, south of the intersection of routes 30 and 352.
