Immaculata University’s Draper Walsh Stadium Receives Outstanding Design Award by “American School & University”
The Draper Walsh Stadium at Immaculata University was selected for publication in American School & University 2008 Architectural Portfolio and received an Outstanding Building Award for 2008. The annual competition honors education design excellence while the Architectural Portfolio spotlights projects representing some of the most effective learning environments in America. Archer & Buchanan Architecture, Ltd., worked closely with Immaculata officials in designing the stadium.
The Draper Walsh Stadium opened in the fall of 2006. The all-purpose synthetic playing field is the home of the Mighty Macs soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey teams and consists of 1,000 bleacher seats, press box, concession stands, and team rooms. The Draper Walsh Stadium is named in honor of Mimi Draper Walsh ´63, trustee and benefactor, through the generosity of the Walsh Family.
Kerry Jones, director of Capital Program Management at Immaculata University, commented "This stadium has not only served as an exceptional home field for the Mighty Macs, but it has also become a premier contemporary architectural element to the University."
Immaculata University is a Catholic, coeducational, comprehensive institution located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, between Paoli and Exton, south of the intersection of routes 30 and 352.
