Immaculata University Students Travel to Jamaica for A Music Therapy Field Trip

Two students majoring in Music Therapy at Immaculata University will spend part of their summer participating in the Jamaica Field Service Project. Graduating senior Alexandra Owens ´10, of Carlisle, PA, and Patricia Higgins ´13, of Sussex, NJ, will be volunteering to work in the area care centers in Jamaica sharing their love of music with local children.
The Jamaica Field Service Project is an accredited study abroad program with the State University of New York and is open to university students from across the U.S. Last year, Immaculata University student Rachel Markovich ´09, attended the Jamaica Field Service Project. While on the trip, students explore the country and will have the opportunity to experience the traditional music of the country, with a strong emphasis on the Afro-Caribbean drumming, dancing, and singing that is such a large part of life in the West Indies.
In 2010, Immaculata University marks the 30th anniversary of the Music Therapy program. For more information on the Music Therapy program or the Music Department, please contact 610-647-4400, ext. 3453.
Immaculata University, a Catholic, coeducation institution, is located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, south of the intersection of routes 30 and 352, between Paoli and Exton.
