Immaculata University Presents Sports Friendship Day
On Sunday, November 16, students in the Immaculata University´s Exercise Science program present, with the office of Mission and Ministry, the first annual Sports Friendship Day. Immaculata University´s Sports Friendship Day aims to promote unity and companionship among all participants through the power of sport, art and music.
The Sports Facility and Event Management students will team up with the Arc of Chester County, the Don Guenella School of Springfield (Delaware County), and West Chester University´s Best Buddies chapter to offer a wonderful day of sports, crafts, and music to people of special needs. The Arc of Chester County is an organization that provides programs and services for those with disabilities in Chester County. Best Buddies is a national organization that provides opportunities for friendship and integrated employment for people with intellectual disabilities.
Participants range in age from seven years to adult with various sports abilities. The day´s events begin at 12:30 p.m. with registration located in Alumnae Hall and conclude at 4:00 p.m. The events include basketball, parachute games for children, a group sing-a-long, and arts and crafts.
Through planning, organizing and operating this event, students in the Exercise Science´s Sports Facility and Event Management course will learn about the challenges that come when trying to facilitate activities.
