Immaculata University Host A Lecture and Book Signing on “Amish Grace: How Forgiveness Transcended Tragedy”

Immaculata University is hosting Donald B. Kraybill, Ph.D., for a book signing and lecture regarding his book "Amish Grace: How Forgiveness Transcended Tragedy" on Thursday, April 24, at 7:00 p.m. in Alumnae Hall. The event is sponsored by Immaculata´s Theology Department and Gabriele Library.
Dr. Kraybill is Distinguished College Professor and Senior Fellow in the Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies at Elizabethtown College. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from Temple University. Nationally recognized for his scholarship on Anabaptist groups, Dr. Kraybill is the author of seven books on Amish life and culture. In addition, he is author, coauthor of several other books and dozen of professional articles. He has also been featured in print media, radio, and television programs across the United States and other countries. He is the editor of Young Center Books in Anabaptist and Pietist Studies. Throughout his career, Dr. Kraybill has received numerous awards including the National Religious Book Award for The Upside Down Kingdom, which has been translated into six languages.
"Amish Grace: How Forgiveness Transcended Tragedy" focuses on the tragic shootings at the Amish schoolhouse in Nickel Mines, PA and the quick response of forgiveness offered to the murder´s family by the Amish community. The book explores the Amish culture and religious beliefs that led them to forgiveness.
"In light of the world´s need to recognize the gift of mercy and forgiveness, Immaculata University is so pleased to host this special, extraordinary presentation," commented Sister Sheila Galligan, IHM, professor of Theology at Immaculata University.
