Immaculata University Celebrates 25th Anniversary of the Immaculata Art Show

The 25th Annual Immaculata University Art Show begins on Friday, February 1, 2008, with a premier ticketed reception from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The show will then run free of charge from Saturday, February 2, through Sunday, February 10. Each year, the Art Show features original works by regional, national, and international juried artists. The 25th Anniversary of the Immaculata University Art Show features 145 artists´ works, which will be available for purchase and on display in Alumnae Hall and the Faculty Center on the university´s campus. All proceeds of this event benefit Immaculata University´s programs and scholarship fund.
The first Show in 1983 was inspired by the University´s president´s council chair, Richard A. Ehmer, as a small craft show. Over the years dedicated volunteers have built the Art Show into a premiere exhibit and regional event. A truly eclectic ensemble of artists from as far away as Russia, China, Taiwan, Japan, Latin America, Yugoslavia, Israel, and South Korea, in addition to regional artists, provide patrons with the opportunity to purchase original paintings, signed prints, sculpture, furniture, pottery, and jewelry.
"From very modest beginnings in 1983, the show has grown to one of the most successful annual art show in the tri-state area. Regional, national, and international artists have exhibited, drawing upwards of 5,000 people each year. The show is produced by over 200 community, student, and alumni volunteers – a powerful demonstration of volunteerism and commitment to promoting art within Chester County and beyond," comments Pamela Panarella, director of Special Events at Immaculata University.
Admission to the ticketed Preview Reception on Friday, February 1, is $75 per person (snow date is Saturday, February 2, at the same time). The general public is invited to view the show for free from Saturday, February 2, through Saturday, February 9, from Noon to 6:00 p.m. and on Sundays, February 3 and 10, from Noon to 5:00 p.m. For more information on the Immaculata University Art Show or to order tickets for the Preview Reception, contact 610-647-4400, ext. 3122 or email at ppanarella@immaculata.edu.
