Immaculata University Announces That Dr. Lillian Eyre is New Faculty Member in Music Therapy

Philadelphia (19144) resident Lillian Eyre, Ph.D., has been hired to instruct both graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in the Music Therapy program at Immaculata University.
As a lecturer in music therapy at Temple University, Dr. Eyre supervised interns and served as liaison with onsite music therapists. Dr. Eyre also served as an adjunct professor at Université du Québec á Montréal (UQAM) and as a piano teacher for 13 years at McGill Conservatory of Music in Montreal. In addition to her teaching experience, Dr. Eyre spent part of her career as a clinical music therapist at Temple University Hospital, and McGill University Health Centre in Montreal. While at the Montreal General Hospital, she was involved in several innovative programs including cofounding the Le groupe MusiArt, an ongoing choir and expressive arts group comprised of psychiatric patients in treatment at the Hospital and also initiating and supervising a music therapy program in geriatrics and hemodialysis.
Throughout her career, Dr. Eyre has been the recipient of many awards including the Boyer College of Music Therapy Research Award, the Vince Cardillo Award, and the Dr. Churchill-Smith Posner Foundation Award among other scholarships and fellowships. To keep current in her profession, she retains membership in the Canadian Association of Music Therapy and the L´Association Québecoise de musicothérapie. She received her music therapy association accreditation from the Canadian Association of Music Therapy in 1997. In addition, in June 2008, Dr. Eyre was granted the credentials of Music Therapist – Board Certified (M.T.-B.C.) from the certification Board for Music Therapists, Inc., the credentialing board of the American Association of Music Therapy.
Graduating from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Music in Performance, Dr. Eyre continued her education with Advanced Music Performance Studies from Concordia University in Montreal and a Master of Music in Performance from Université de Montréal. In 1995, she earned a second undergraduate degree in Music in Music Therapy from Université du Québec á Montréal and recently received her Ph.D. in Music Therapy from Temple University.
With an extensive list of publications in both Canada and the United States, Dr. Eyre also gives lectures and presentations on music therapy-related topics and has been featured in media articles appearing in print, television, and radio.
