Immaculata University Announces September Workshops

LISTENING SKILLS. In this course students will discover that listening skills may be the key reason some people are more effective in their professional and interpersonal relationships. This practical workshop teaches how to use active listening to ensure understanding, decode hidden messages, resolve conflict, respond with empathy, work better with others, and become a more valuable professional. This one-credit course is offered on Saturdays, September 12 and 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The cost is $420 for one credit and $180 for non-credit.
ENHANCING YOUR POTENTIAL. Open the worlds of interpersonal communication and self-reflection using the theory of psychological type to answer such questions as, "Am I in the right job?" or "How can I get along better with my family?" Students focus on theory and practical applications while stressing team-building and creative thinking, exploring how to make modifications in type. This one-credit course is offered on Saturdays, September 12, 19, and 26 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $420 for one credit and $180 for non-credit.
PASSION OF THE CHRIST. This course examines the suffering and death of Jesus through an exploration of the Gospels and the film, "The Passion of the Christ." Pastoral and personal applications will be noted. This one-credit course is offered on Saturdays, September 12 and 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The cost is $420 for one credit and $180 for non-credit.
ART OF SELF-DEFENSE. This course investigates the physical, psychological, and sociological impact that a physical attack can have on the individual. Students learn how to recognize and avoid dangerous situations as well as defend themselves. This one-credit course is offered on Monday, September 14, 21, and 28 and October 5 and 12, from 7:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. The cost is $420 for one credit and $180 for non-credit.
ART OF NEGOTIATING. This workshop focuses on ways to overcome barriers to effective negotiation, to neutralize surprises or "ambushes" from the other side, to use negotiation to map out objectives, and to create a positive negotiating climate. This one-credit course is offered on Friday, September 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, September 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $420 for one credit and $180 for non-credit.
FRANCIS OF ASSISI. This course examines the life and legacy of Francis of Assisi. It provides a view of Francis´ core spiritual insights and prayers as well as his witness to simplicity, joy, and peacemaking. This one-credit course is offered on Saturday, September 19 and Saturday, October 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The cost is $420 for one credit and $180 for non-credit.
STEIN´S PSYCHOPHYSICAL PERSON. In this part of the series on Edith Stein, students delve into Stein´s philosophical and theological writings about empathy and the human person. This one-credit course is offered on Tuesdays, September 22 and 29, and October 6 and 13, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $420 for one credit and $180 for non-credit.
RESUME WRITING. In this workshop, students research ads and identify requested skill sets, create persuasive lead lines, and write a convincing cover letter. The result will be a professional resume necessary to open the right doors. This one-credit course is offered on Friday, September 25, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The cost is $420 for one credit and $180 for non-credit.
