Immaculata Student Laura Hritz Receives the Saint Catherine Medal

Immaculata University announces that the recipient of the Saint Catherine of Alexandria Medal for the 2005-2006 academic year is Collegeville, PA, resident Laura Hritz. The medal is sponsored by Kappa Gamma Pi, a national honor society for graduates of Catholic colleges.
Laura, who will be entering her senior year at Immaculata, is a graduate of Saint Pious X High School in Pottstown, PA. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Theology with Elementary Education with a minor in psychology.
This special medal is named after Saint Catherine of Alexandria, who symbolizes wisdom, fortitude, and Christian service. Kappa Gamma Pi offers the Saint Catherine Medal to honor a student at the conclusion of his/her junior year who represents the high ideals of a Catholic college education. One recipient is selected each year by the university faculty and/or classmates, on the basis of leadership and service to the affiliated institution.
Upon receiving the Saint Catherine of Alexandria Medal, Laura commented that, "I am very honored that the faculty would choose me to receive the award out of the many students in my class. I am proud to say that I am a student at Immaculata, where I have been given many opportunities to exercise and develop my leadership and service skills."
At Immaculata University, she is president of the Immaculata Chapter of Theta Alpha Kappa, the national honor society for Theology; secretary of the class of ‘07; vice president of the education club; vice president of Macs for Life for the 2005-2006 academic year; and is very involved with campus ministry.
As a member of the College of Undergraduate Studies Honors Society, she carries a 4.0 GPA and is on the Dean´s List. She will begin her student teaching in the fall of 2006.
Laura is also a member of St. Eleanor Parish in Collegeville. For the past three summers she has been volunteering at her parish´s Bible School and also the Bible School at St. Theresa of Avila in Audubon, PA.
Immaculata University, a Catholic coeducational institution, is located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, south of the intersection of routes 30 and 352, between Paoli and Exton.
