Immaculata Presents Workshop on Dance, Expressive Movement, and Meditation

The College of Graduate Studies at Immaculata University will offer a two-day workshop entitled Circles of Healing: Dance, Expressive Movement, and Meditation – Moving into Stillness on Saturday, November 5, and Sunday, November 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Villa Maria Hall on the university´s campus. Jeanie Ruland, MA, CEA, will instruct this class.
Releasing stress and emotions through movement prepares the mind, body, and spirit for the quiet and stillness of meditation. Students explore an expressive movement and dance technique that is a major element in Movement Therapy, combining the disciplines of modern dance improvisation, yoga, tai chi, African, and World dance. Meditation techniques will be experienced and discussed, as well as the healing effects and meditative qualities of the quartz crystal singing bowl, an instrument used for healing in Music Therapy.
Introduced during the inception of the graduate certificate in expressive arts, the Circles of Healing series presents initiative for study, experiential work, and practice in music, visual arts, dance, movement, and drama.
Cost for the course if taken at the graduate level is $460 and $335 if taken at the undergraduate level. It is also offered as a non-credit workshop for $160. For more information contact the College of Graduate Studies at 610-647-4400, ext. 3211.
Immaculata University, a Catholic, coeducational institution, is located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, south of the intersection of routes 30 and 352, between Paoli and Exton.
