Faculty Lecture Series
Recognizing the depth of expertise among the faculty, Immaculata University offered a Faculty Lecture Series on Monday, February 11, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. in the Green Room. Faculty presenters included Jed Yalof, Pys.D., professor of Psychology, and Stephanie Theodorou, Ph.D., professor of Philosophy.
Dr. Yalof began the lecture with a presentation entitled “A New Rorschach Approach to Analyzing the Superego.” The presentation focused on a new psychoanalytically-informed method for analyzing the construct of the superego on the Rorschach test by integrating test-retest information, using both test scores and content data.
Following Dr. Yalof’s presentation, Dr. Theodorou discussed “Buddhist Thought, Western Phenomenology, and Contemporary Neuroscience.” Her research examines a conceptual space where classical Buddhist thought intersects with Western phenomenology and contemporary neuroscience. She explored how specific philosophers in phenomenalist schools of thought, both Eastern and Western, might engage in a conversation with contemporary neuroscientists studying the plasticity of the brain-mind.
