Dr. William Carr to Give Piano Recital at IU
Dr. William Carr, a resident of Media, PA, and Professor of Music at Immaculata University, will give a piano recital at Immaculata University on Friday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall. He will perform works by Haydn, Beethoven, Berg, Chopin, Liszt, Toch, and Anderson. Dr. Carr has been invited to perform several of these works on the main stage of Carnegie Hall (Isaac Stern Auditorium) for an upcoming concert on Friday, June 3, 2005 in New York City.
Dr. Carr has had an illustrious musical career. In addition to his June 3rd concert at Carnegie Hall, Dr. Carr has performed throughout the U.S. and in many European cities. He marked his first solo recital in the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in 1988 and later performed solo at the Isaac Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall in February 2002. He has also had two solo performances at the Kimmel Center´s Verizon Hall.
Dr. Carr received degrees in piano performance from Temple University. He continued his studies under the world renowned Adele Marcus at the Juilliard School in the Professional Studies Program. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in piano performance from The Catholic University of America. He earned post-doctoral performance certificates from the Munich Conservatory in Chamber Music and from the Liszt Weimar Conservatory through studies with concert pianist Paul Badura-Skoda in Germany and Austria. Dr. Carr also holds a Master´s Degree in International Relations/International Business from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He was the first recipient of the Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award at Immaculata University.
